Lessons learned...

...about running:
  • that euphoric feeling serious runners talk about is most likely just a head rush from all the blood moving new and different places, but it was pretty awesome nonetheless
  • sea-level trumps valley-level any day
  • getting hot and sweaty and dirty and gross while a cool rain kisses your skin might be one of life's greatest pleasures
  • getting hot and sweaty and dirty and gross is awesome
  • something about intense physical activity just gets your head back where it should be
...about big city living:
  • you just can't care at all what anyone thinks about you ever because no matter what you are doing, you are doing in front of people
  • there's always something going on!
  • people want to talk to strangers but they aren't going to be the one to do it
  • despite how busy they may look, most people are willing to help a stranger (especially if you try to touch your elbows to your bellybutton while looking at them with a look of concern and hopefully just a flash of dimple)
...about London:
  • parks are considered the "lungs of the city" for a reason
  • it's not that big really, I mean it's a big city but it gets smaller every day and i really like that
...about home:
  • my friends are rad and irreplaceable
  • mountains are nice to have around
